Join us for an exciting 3-week long Citizenship in Society Merit Badge Class!
Unlike traditional merit badges, Citizenship in Society focuses on independent learning and meaningful group discussion around diversity, equity, and inclusion. There is no official pamphlet… Scouts will research each of the 11 requirements on their own and come prepared to share their insights.
Participants will be placed in a small cohort of up to 8 Scouts to encourage thoughtful and respectful conversation. Merit Badge Counselors act as facilitators, guiding discussions through questions while ensuring conversations stay on topic. They do not provide answers or share personal opinions.
Class Structure:
- 3 sessions (up to 2 hours each)
- Meets once per week
- Small group, cohort-based discussions
- Independent research between sessions
This class is designed to create a safe, engaging space for open dialogue, critical thinking, and personal growth.
