This will be the opposite direction from the route we’ll be taking at Ebbetts Pass in May! We’ll backpack approximately 10 miles from Ebbetts Pass, camp overnight, and then hike the 10 miles back to the cars the following day.
At over 8,000 feet, the goal is to help Scouts build endurance, gain confidence with longer distances, and understand how altitude can affect the body. Along the way, we may also meet Pacific Crest Trail thru-hikers traveling from Mexico to Canada, a great chance to hear stories and learn from their experiences.
This trip is one of the required preparation hikes for the July PCT backpacking trip.
Itinerary
The rough plan is to leave San Francisco on Friday afternoon or very early Saturday morning to reach the trailhead and begin hiking.
More details will be shared as the date gets closer.
