Pathfinder Hike to Mt. Tam

8:30am – 3:00pm

Join us for the next adventure in our Pathfinder hiking program as we hike to the summit of Mt. Tam! This trip is open to all scouts. You do not need to be participating in the Summer PCT hike to join.

For those planning to attend the Summer PCT hike, this outing counts toward the required number of trips needed to be considered for the program. Don’t miss this chance to challenge yourself, enjoy the outdoors, and take in the amazing views from the top of Mt. Tam!

Itinerary

Meet at 8:30am in the parking lot across from Mountain Home Inn, at Panoramic Hwy and Edgewood Ave in Mill Valley. The hike will likely take around 4–5 hours to complete, depending on the Scouts.

What to Bring

Scouts considering attending the PCT hike this summer should wear the backpack and shoes they plan to use. Their pack should include a minimum of 6 liters of water, along with their sleeping bag, wet-weather gear, and the 10 Essentials.

Pocketknife/Multitool:
A versatile tool for various tasks

First-Aid Kit:
For treating minor injuries

Rain Gear:
A poncho or jacket to stay dry in the rain

Water Bottle:
To stay hydrated

Extra Clothing:
An extra layer to adapt to changing weather

Flashlight:
For visibility in low-light conditions

Trail Food:
Extra snacks and energy food

Matches and Fire-Starters:
For safely building a fire

Sun Protection:
Sunscreen, a hat, or sunglasses to protect from the sun

Map and Compass:
Essential for navigation and finding your way
