Memorial Day 2026 flag planting

Memorial Day Flag Planting

Saturday, May 23, 2026

8:30 – 11am

Troop 415 will once again attend and help organize the Memorial Day flag planting ceremony on the Saturday before Memorial Day.

This is an event the Troop organizes and runs. Our Scouts will lead the flag raising ceremony for the garrison flag at the cemetery. There will also be presentations from veterans sharing how they see the impact of Scouts planting flags and carrying on this meaningful tradition. Following the ceremony, our Scouts will join approximately 400 other Scouts and adults in placing more than 30,000 flags at every gravestone throughout the cemetery.

Event Details

This event is always well attended by Scouts from across our District and Council. It’s a meaningful opportunity not only to earn service hours and complete certain Rank advancement requirements, but—more importantly—for Scouts to honor and learn about the sacrifices made by others in service to our country.

Registration is required for this event and is free of charge. For additional details, visit the Council’s event page.
